Label reading
How to Read a Colostrum Label
Compare one labeled serving at a time. Check each ingredient and amount, package directions, the milk allergen statement, and the current price and delivery details before checkout.
Compare serving size, ingredient amounts, package directions, milk allergen information and purchase details.
Start with the serving
Check serving size and servings per container before comparing tubs. Package weight does not show the amount in one serving. Compare a full labeled serving with a full labeled serving.
Then look at the total you would pay. Check the current offer, shipping and taxes before checkout. Optional subscriptions save 10% on the initial payment and each renewal, with no minimum commitment. Cancel or skip before renewal processing. Review the offer details.
Understand component amounts
Read how each amount relates to the others. IgG is part of the bovine colostrum amount, not an extra 400 mg to add on top. Check the list for other ingredients.
IgG is a type of immunoglobulin found among colostrum proteins. Lactoferrin is an iron-binding protein that occurs in milk; a review describes its structure and how processing and digestion can affect it. Read the lactoferrin review on PubMed. Marshmallow root is the root of Althaea officinalis. The European Medicines Agency says its traditional-use conclusions for specified marshmallow-root medicines are based on long-standing use, with insufficient evidence from clinical trials. Read the EMA summary.
The Colostrum Powder label lists 2,000 mg bovine colostrum, including 400 mg IgG, 50 mg bovine lactoferrin and 500 mg marshmallow root powder per 2.55 g serving. These are label amounts. Check the package for its full ingredient list and directions.
